How to Clean Gravestones

How to Clean Gravestones

Back by request after the successful demonstration in the fall of 2021, the Pipestone County Historical Society invites you to join us for a second demonstration by Steve Sittig that will focus on how to remove dirt, debris, and lichen from cemetery stones.  Steve is a member of the Dell Rapids Cemetery Board and has been cleaning stones for 5 years.  He uses the same product that is used to clean stones at Arlington National Cemetery.  Steve’s demonstration will take place Saturday, May 21st beginning at 1:00 p.m. at North Eden Cemetery (west of Ihlen 2 miles on County Road 2 to County Road 13, 1/2 mile south).  Steve will discuss and demonstrate the process he uses on gravestones that the Pipestone County Historical Society has received family permission to use for this purpose.  Attendance is limited to 15.  Preregistration is REQUIRED.  Payment must be received at the time of registration.  All sales are final. To register, stop in or call the Pipestone County Museum.

The Pipestone County Museum is located at 113 S. Hiawatha Avenue in Pipestone, MN.  If you have further questions, you may call the Museum at (507) 825-2563 or email them at pipctymu@iw.net.
